Start a Money Club: Ready, Set, Go!

Your group will also need to complete some basic tasks to get ready for the financial journey ahead. Start with these:

  • Share Information
Share all members' addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. One member can gather all of this information, and type it up in an e-mail for the group, or make copies to distribute at the next meeting. Each member should also be asked to sign a Money Club Pledge.

  • Provide Real Leadership
In most groups, you will not always be the head honcho and dictatorette of the Money Club. Group leadership will rotate from meeting to meeting, giving each member a chance to lead the group. If your group prefers that you lead every week, be a steward of the group and ensure that everyone gets a chance to hear and be heard.

  • It's All About Attendance
Emphasize participation. If members attend and participate, their money skills naturally will start to improve. No elaborate preparation or study is required. Just trust in the process of learning. Money Clubs are not like a recipe for Minute Rice: don't expect results in ten minutes or less.

  • Get Started
Use the Money Truths and Dreams Questionnaire  to assess what is most important to each member of the group. You can then decide which topics, called Money Zones, your group will concentrate on first.
